Analysis of College Magazine Cover

The title of my college magazine is the ‘College Times’ and I have chosen two main colours to use within my magazine. These are orange and blue which match the East Norfolk Sixth Form logo. This will make the magazine exclusive to the college and therefore people are more likely to read it if it is especially for the college itself.
The image on the front is full size that covers the whole page. This makes people want to read the magazine even more if they know the person on the front cover. If the image wasn’t whole size but smaller in a corner then it wouldn’t stand out as more. The background is an area of the college which also makes the magazine exclusive to the college.
I have used several different fonts on the cover to help it stand out more, therefore making the target audience more attracted to the magazine. There is lots of text within the cover which allows the reader to understand what they have to look forward to reading within then issue. The tone of the magazine is a kind of chill out, something to do magazine which doesn’t make the reader think twice about reading it.
The target audience is obviously students but away from that would be the popular, outgoing students of the college. I have decided to make the first issue of the college magazine to be free because this will influence people to buy and read the magazine. However the following issue will be 50p but no more because this is what people would say they would pay. My magazine is every fortnight because from the questionnaire 50% said they would want it weekly and 30% said they would like it monthly, therefore this is fulfilling 80% of my target audience.
